Critical Analysis on a Work of Art: Toward Pragmatic Perspective and Supremacy

The occurrence of absurdity in art cannot be neglected for there are hidden beauties, purposive and interesting ideas that could be extracted from such kind of absurdity. Some groups are extremely denouncing a work of art. People today begin to confuse that art has become a victim of delusional thought. This paper will investigate the origin of art, its nature, role and purpose and standards of art to affirm the present condition where absurdity occurs. The banishing of art is found unreasonable that exhibits the impossibility of abandonment. The delusional thought of deprived individuals from exercising freedom of artistic impulse is found absurd. The masses then are confined to such dogmatic thoughts that consequently lead individuals to become victims of absurd will. This is the source of severe illness of this present society

A Study of Hand Art Work and Artwork Gift

本研究の目的は、フォーカシング指向アートセラピーの手のワークを用いることによる気持ちの変化やアートとして描いたプレゼントをすることによる気持ちの変化を検討することである。不安や悩みを喚起させる教示を行い、手のワークを実施し、相手の不安や悩みのイメージに良さそうなイメージを描いてプレゼントをするといった手順で実験を行った。実験の間には抑うつ感を測る質問紙と不安を測る質問紙をそれぞれ4回実施し、その後すぐにペアでインタビューを行った。その結果、有意な抑うつ感及び不安の低下が認められ、同じように効果も認められた。インタビューで得られた感想と合わせて検討すると、プレゼントを受け取ることによって自分の不安や悩みを違った視点で見ることができるようになったことが一因だと考察された。また、プレゼントを作成する過程があることによって、自分の悩みと距離がとれたことが気持ちの変化に繋がった可能性も考察された。The objective of this study is to examine the change of feelings as a result of an exercise called "Hand Art Work" in Focusing-Oriented Art Therapy and by creating an artwork gift. The experimental procedure commenced by giving participants anxiety-inducing instructions. Then, Hand Art Work was carried out where participants drew art gifts that they thought would be anxiety reducing to another participant with whom they were paired. During this experimental procedure, 2 scales to measure anxiety and depression were administered 4 times, and participant pairs were interviewed soon after the artworks were completed. Statistical analysis of the 2 scales demonstrated significant reductions in both anxiety and depression. From the interview, it was considered that receiving presents enabled participants to view their own anxieties from a different perspective. Thus, this study concluded that both drawing about one\u27s own anxieties and giving an artwork gift to another resulted in positive change of feelings

The Work of Art in the Age of Digital Fragility

Impermanence and fragility have become the defining conditions of the digital age. Technologies that were ubiquitous barely a decade ago, like floppy disks, now look like archaeological relics. It takes only a few years, if not months, before software environments are replaced by newer versions, often with limited backward compatibility. At the same time, digital technologies rely on hardware that has short life expectancy. The radical obsolescence of this new digital register raises a number of important questions. How are we going to prevent the fragile memories of contemporary digital cultures from receding into oblivion? This essay answers this question by looking at one of the institutions in which the problems associated with digital fragility are most especially felt, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), and by exploring the ontological displacements that digital objects are operating at the heart of the museum

A Work of Art

Construction of the rotunda started in May. Work began this fall to install the Triple Helix sculpture inside the rotunda. It serves as a centerpiece for the School of Art\u27s new entryway
